Stoneygate Update

Alert message sent 01/05/2020 16:39:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Hello,  Stoneygate Residents and Businesses.
We thought that now would be a good time to give you an update for the Neighbourhood.
Clearly dominating most people’s thoughts will be COVID 19. Fortunately most people are sticking to guidelines and doing what is being asked of them. There are people still breaching these rules, who are being advised and encouraged to return home when journeys are not necessary. If individuals refuse to return home without a reasonable excuse or are found to be flouting the guidelines unnecessarily then fines are being issued.
We would encourage you to speak with family and friends reminding them of guidelines so they do not fall foul of them. Equally please call, report online if you feel that neighbours, family or friends are constantly breaching the guidelines so we can speak with them to stress the importance of abiding by them.
Over the past few weeks officers have been busy dealing with Normal everyday policing as well as having to adapt to the current situation. The beat has been carrying on as usual, dealing with incidents of crime and ASB and we would urge you to continue to report incidents as normal.
I have attached a snapshot of certain crimes for the months of January to March 2019-2020. I Have not included April as we have not quite finished the month yet, that said the figures are looking healthy and do appear to be low for these types of crimes.
We would still urge you to be vigilant though, ensuing doors and windows are closed and locked if you have to go out, or at night before going to bed. Equally, please check vehicles, ensuring no valuables, money etc. have been left inside. If a thief can see an expensive item or cash they are more likely to break into a vehicle

As a team we are also looking for ways to disrupt criminals, a lot of the information that we use comes from the public. Without this information it would be difficult for the Police to gather enough information to allow us to complete our job effectively. For instance information being passed about drug dealing could lead to the police being able to obtain a warrant for an address. This has happened several times over the past few months allowing us to disrupt and arrest Drug dealers in the area. Please keep this information coming in. Your details will be protected, you can even report anonymously if you are uncomfortable with passing us your details
As-Salam-u-Alaikum / Ramadan Mubarak
Presently we are in the Holy month of Ramadan. It must be difficult with Mosques being closed and very different for lots of people, not being able to interact with Family, friends and Associates, particularly, during the breaking of the fast. Hopefully by the time EID is upon us, circumstances may have changed slightly. I cannot see that social distancing will have disappeared from our lives, but maybe just maybe we will be able to see more of those that we have missed over the past few weeks, if we all continue to do our part.
Finally the team is always out and about on the beat. If you wish to report an incident or crime, want advice or just a chat, please stop and speak with us. Just please keep in mind Social distancing to keep us all safe.
