Have you tested your Window Alarms

Alert message sent 22/09/2019 21:56:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

Hello hope all is well. Recently your local teams have been busy around the area of Junction Road in Wigston concerning youths causing ASB in the area. The team have identified a number of persons responsible and are being dealt with and measures put in place. We have recently seized a motorcycle from this area that was being used by the local youths. I would like to thank the community who reported these incidents to us. I would urge members who visit Wigston Town Centre to call us if they experience any further ASB in this area.

I am sure that some may have seen your local beat teams in various places around the South Leicester Area with the Gazebo and promoting the ‘Celebrate Safely Campaign’. We have been signing people onto Neighbourhood Link and providing SelectaDNA marking kits along with other crime prevention items for our local community in aim to reduce Burglary. We have had some positive outcome and hopefully there will be more in the future.

Could I please ask that all members do log onto Neighbourhoodlink.co.uk and once logged in, click on the left side tab 'Neighbourhood Watch'. This will give you the opportunity if you haven’t already done so to join an existing scheme in your area or you can create a new Neighbourhood Watch scheme. If you do join an existing scheme, the system will allow you to get in touch with your local scheme coordinator.

If you are a Coordinator and require NHW signs then please get in touch with your local team. We do have SelectaDNA signs which we are encouraging more people to get hold of as we have signs for this as well as a good deterrent. See attached picture.

Checking recent stats for this month for Burglary, Knighton and Wigston appear to be the concerning areas. Please remember to check your security devices on a regular basis to see they are working at its full potential. Devices such as battery operated Window Alarms, Shed Alarms, or House burglar alarms that are not powered by the mains will need their batteries replaced depending on the use. Now is a good idea to replace any batteries to ensure during the darker nights your house will be safe especially if we are getting into the peak times.

Stay Safe – “If you see something….Say Something and Report it!”
