Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good evening
Just wanted to pass my thanks to you all for the continued support Charnwood NPA have received from the community , we are working hard to keep policing going locally and we are very much open for business .
There are a few scams going around at present related to COVID19 , one is people coming to the doorstep and claiming to be testing the public and the others are on line . The online scams vary however I have seen one recently that presents as from a gas company , they suggest you owe money on your bill , not a great amount but its the fraudsters opportunity to get your details . Please DO NOT open or respond to emails that you suspect are false , once its opened it may be too late . These criminals tend to try and exploit vulnerable people so if you have friends , family or neighbours who you feel may be targeted please inform them . Charnwood Watch is growing across the borough , now that people are at home it might be a good time to consider joining the scheme , I sense that there is a growing sense of community in the borough so I would really like to embrace that . Crime is down across Charnwood , facts and figures will be released in due course however some really valuable work going on to target criminals and keep people and property safe .
Can I encourage you all to take a look at Charnwood Borough Councils web pages , some really useful information concerning COVID and info re the local response .
If you have crime or information to report please try doing so on line , 101 or if an emergency 999 , I need to know whats going on so if you feel its important and something the police should be aware of please share .
Finally , please enjoy the weekend , I hope you all have a chance to pause and make the most of the Easter period , we will be here 24/7 doing what we do best .
Thanks for the support
Mark
