Theft From Motor Vehicles

Alert message sent 24/03/2020 14:34:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good afternoon,

I write this whilst currently isolating from home.
However, we have recently noticed an increase in the number of offences where vehicles are having windows smashed and items taken from within.
This is not just the Stoneygate area of the City but is noticeable across the whole of East Leicester.

Of particular note is that taxi's are being targetted, as those responsible are aware that driver's of taxi's tend to leave amounts of money visible within the vehicle when it is parked overnight.

This is something that is easily sorted, and I would remind everyone to remove anything of value from within their vehicles when parked overnight. This simple act can be the difference between becoming a victim of crime or not.

In the meantime, please take on the advice of the Government around staying at home unless absolutely necessary, and look after both family members and yourselves.

Kind regards

Sgt Pete Colgate
