Corona virus update

Alert message sent 19/03/2020 12:16:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Just to provide and offer some reassurance,

We are a frontline emergency service. We will continue to do our job, night and day, to protect communities and work with partners tackling the Coronavirus.

The situation is changing rapidly. We will be ready to adapt how we work to protect communities and help others.

This means keeping ourselves safe, looking out for our colleagues, and the people we work with. We must make sure we can continue to protect our communities.

In summary

The overall approach we are taking is to:

Protect
Reassure
Keep safe
Stay up-to-date

Protect – We protect our communities and prevent crime. During this time, we will be ready to adapt how we work in order to keep people safe while government partners tackle the impacts of Coronavirus.

Reassure – We will remain active in communities, be visible, and work closely with the NHS, councils and all stakeholders to slow the spread of the virus. Our presence and actions will reassure them. The situation will change. We can reassure by being consistent, doing our job, and being ready to adapt. Remember you can report crime online or calling 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Keep safe – To protect and reassure, we need to be fit and able to do the job. Therefore, it is important that we follow Government guidance. On shift or off-shift, working from home or not, we all have a responsibility to look after ourselves, our colleagues, and the people we work with, so that we can continue to do our job.

Stay up-to-date – The situation will change, potentially quickly. We must keep up-to-date with Government advice (which we will share), adapt our approach, and understand the situation in our communities. Being alert to changes will help us protect, prepare and reassure.
