Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of Knighton & Oadby

Hello, hope all is well. We received a report from the local church on New Street Oadby of a Criminal Damage to their electric parking bollard. The Bollard was damaged during the Friday 10/01/2020 and it is unknown of the approximate times. If you were passing by or was doing a school run to Launde Primary School, if you did see or heard about the damage if you could contact us and quote crime reference 20000069073. You can email us directly via southleicesternpa@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk or reply back to this message with any info.

We have also seen a recent spike in Theft From Motor Vehicles across the South Leicester area. Majority of the spike looks to take place around the Knighton and Oadby areas. There has been a few cases of forced entry by smashing window of the vehicle, along with reports of number plates being removed and a couple of reports of Catalytic Converters being removed from vehicles.

Please ensure that you are removing belongings out of vehicles and out of show. Utilise number plate security screws to stop criminals from easily removing your number plates. You can pick these up for free from Wigston Police Station. It appears that Toyota vehicles seem to be a trend when it comes to removing Catalytic Converters and Mercedes vans. You can shop around with an anti-theft cover for this but do some research on the Internet or speak to your local garage for further advice. Type in 'Catalytic Converter Anti theft system' into a Google Search to find more information. When parking your vehicle try and park in a well-lit area and avoid areas where your vehicle cannot be seen as this could attract criminals to try and break into your vehicle.

Thank you for your support.
