Suspicious phone call

Alert message sent 12/01/2020 21:22:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good evening

I have been made aware of an elderly resident receiving a call from someone offering a COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE SCHEME for residents over 50 in the Lutterworth and surrounding area.

During the call they offered to provide a personal number to summon in emergencies.
It was explained that the cost was approx £1 per person and they needed to come and talk about the service anytime to suit, day or evening.

Luckily the elderly resident they were talking to found the call suspicious and starting questioning the person in why they were not holding a community information session and asked other questions and the call was quickly terminated by this person.

Please look our for your family, friends and neighbours.
Stop nuisance calls by contacting your phone provider who will be able to tell you how to block these types of calls or take a look at Telephone Preference Service.
