Gone in 60 Seconds Lockitorloseit

Alert message sent 23/12/2019 19:34:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

Hello, hope all is well. We have had a number of reports of cycle thefts around busy shopping areas. Unfortunately the most common factor in these reports we receive are that the victim places their bike outside the store as they were going for a quick shop and when they return, their bike is gone.
It takes seconds to steal a bike if it is insecure. It also takes a few seconds to lock your bike using a Dlock or any other physical lock to a fixed post etc.

As Christmas is days away and I am sure many people would be getting new bikes for Christmas. Please could I advise members to register their bikes onto Immobilise.com. You can download the attached bike passport where you can record important information about your bike if it gets stolen so you can hand the bike passport to the Police in case we recover any stolen bikes and return to its owner.

Those who have been given SelectaDNA security marking kit; you can also mark your bikes with this kit too. We do have a supply at Wigston Police station if you don’t have a security marking kit. Further more looking at last years crime I have seen a number of shed breaks after Christmas where criminals steal new bikes and new tools stored in sheds. Please ensure you invest in shed security and battery operated alarms if anyone tries to break into the shed. You can click on the link below for further Tips and Advice.

Finally I would like to wish all our members a Happy Christmas and Happy New Year!
