NEW ONE WAY SYSTEMS

Alert message sent 31/08/2019 16:51:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Good Afternoon, Members

This message is to let you know about the new one way systems in place around the Green Lane Road area. We have been informed and witnessed drivers coming through NO ENTRY'S which is a traffic offence. It is also dangerous as the driver can cause a road traffic collision, injury.
We have been working to advising drivers in the last week or so since the signs have been put up in the area. We will now start to give tickets to drivers who are committing such offences and they could either end up with 3 penalty points or a drivers awareness course.

This message is to advise drivers in the area to obey the signs as they are enforceable by police so please be mindful of when driving in the area its easy to forget as the most streets have had two way access for a number of years and now have changed.

PLEASE BE MINDFUL THAT FAILING TO OBEY A NO ENTRY SIGN IS AN OFFENCE AND IT IS ALSO UNDER THE OFFENCE OF DRIVING WITHOUT DUE CARE AND ATTENTION.

Legislation

Contrary to section 3 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988
Penalty
  • Obligatory endorsement - licence endorsed three to nine penalty points.
  • Discretionary disqualification.
  • Fixed Penalty Ticket - One Hundred Pounds and licence endorsed three penalty points
This is just some of the penalties which could be received by the driver of the motor vehicle.

Stay Safe

Regards
