Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

Hello, hope all is well. Now that the school summer holidays are coming to the end, your local beat teams are planning to do additional patrols during school times. This is to ensure everything goes smoothly as after a long break things do intend to get very hectic during the first few days and hope the school opening will go smooth and stress free for all.

As the students are preparing to going back to school I would want to pass on the attached leaflet to parents and carers on tips for keeping their family safe. Social Media is often scrutinised as having a negative impact on children’s mental health. See attached for more information and safety tips keeping children safe.

Also that the summer is almost reaching to its end and that the days will become shorter. Now is a great time to think about various ways in improving your security around the home. There has been a few reports of Burglary around our area being Knighton and Aylestone appears to have more than the other areas in the last few days.
Please utilise window alarms as on looking at the recent reports majority appear to be forced entry to the side or rear of the property to the windows. Utilising window alarms could deter the criminal but will produce a high pitched alarm if the window is tampered or broken. We do have a short supply of segment 24hr timers, window alarms and shed alarms available for a small fee at Wigston Police Station so if you are interested pop over to the front desk for more information. Furthermore if you have cycles please make use of a Bike Passport which again you can pick up from Wigston Police Station and register your bike for FREE at
