Local Police Update for South Leicester

Alert message sent 23/06/2019 11:44:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

Hello, hope you all are well. Your local beat team have been busy in the last few weeks dealing with ASB in our area.

Recently local officers were called to a series of stone throwing incidents in the Eyres Monsell and Saffron Estate where local youths were seen to be throwing stones. Your local team were able to obtain CCTV images and clear images of the faces captured by witnesses to these damages. The local team have worked hard and were able to identify the youths responsible for the criminal damage. The youths are closely being monitored by Police and other agencies.

On Wigston we are still battling the issue with the youths on roofs on Bell Street. We are engaging closely with local retailers and have already identified the group responsible and we will be taking the appropriate action. Unfortunately there has been damage on the roof and the Police will not be taking this lightly as not only have they caused damage but there is a concern from local retailers and the public of any accidents. I would urge parents to speak to their young ones about the dangers of going on roofs and the impact it can cause to communities.

Good News - we recently arrested a 22 year old male from Leicester in connection to recent Burglary and vehicle crime in the area surrounding ‘Coombe Park’ and ‘Uplands Park’ in Oadby. Officers have identified the suspect via camera door bells and CCTV. The suspect has been arrested and charged. We are hoping from the arrest that there will be a reduction of crime. However, please remain vigilant at all times.
I would urge members to keep an eye on their security to ensure that it is working at its full potential. I would strongly recommend investing in a good quality camera and having cloud recording which enables the user to remotely access the footage even if the thief decides to steal the camera.

Good News - The Leicestershire Police Beat Bus will be around the area over the coming weeks. If you see the bus please do come over and speak to us.

My final thoughts - The weather is now becoming better so please remember to secure your doors and windows of your property including the rear. Don’t give criminals easy access.

Stay Safe.
