Criminal Damages in the Eyres Monsell

Alert message sent 03/05/2019 23:44:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester area.

Hello, hope you are all well. I just wanted to inform our members about a spate of criminal damages we are having in the Eyres Monsell area. These damages occurred during the evenings on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of May and mostly happening to buses where groups of youths are throwing stones at buses. Due to the incident this has disrupted the services for local buses for 86 and 87 that go into the area near Hillsborough Road as the bus company didn’t want further damages happening to their buses and keeping in mind the safety of their passengers and other road users.

There has also been damages to a couple of homes in the same area where stones were thrown at windows. There has been an incident where traffic cones that were used for the road maintenance was being altered by unauthorised persons on the Soar Valley Way where someone decided to line the cones blocking access to the carriageway on both sides during late hours. However this was swiftly removed by local motorists as clearly this was the act of someone who is clearly selfish and doesn't think what the consequences are by putting cones on the road when not authorised to do so.

We are asking for members from our community especially parents and carers to be mindful about what their child is doing if they are returning home during late hours. The Police are now investigating the acts of vandalism and ask the local community if you have seen the group responsible or may have a name of the persons causing this issue to please contact the beat team in confidence. If your child is associating with the wrong group who are causing these damages, then the Police will be dealing with all individuals involved as a criminal matter. We will also be speaking to local agencies and schools about this issue for their support.

You can either call us on 101 or email the south Leicester team on and quote crime reference 19000222205

Hope you all have a great weekend and bank holiday.

Stay Safe.
