Nitrous Oxide aka Laughing Gas

Alert message sent 06/01/2019 18:04:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

The beat team for the Freeman ward have identified an issue with the use of Nitrous-oxide and littering our streets with the small canisters and other rubbish in our area. Taking this substance known as 'laughing gas' can be dangerous in the long run as the gas can dissolve in your bloodstream and reduce the amount of oxygen flowing to the brain. The concerning part is that these individuals are using vehicles after taking this substance and they will be treated the same as being an intoxicated driver. Please see attached image taken from Boundary Road in the Freeman Beat. If you see similar canisters scattered on your street please let us know via replying to this message along with any registration numbers without putting yourself in any danger or any confrontation.
Stay Safe
