Damage and ASB at Aylestone Leisure Centre

Alert message sent 03/01/2019 10:33:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

There has been a growing concern about the behaviour of some individuals loitering around the Aylestone Leisure Centre on Knighton Lane East. The concern is mainly relating to the group of youths that attend the Leisure Centre who do not intend to use the services. Instead they are becoming intimidating towards genuine customers and using foul language towards staff.
Staff reported on Wed 02/01/19 about 16:00hrs the group were loitering at the front of the centre where they have ground anchor ‘table tennis’ located at the front. Youths have caused damage to these tables and we are now investigating criminal damage. The Leisure centre is providing a service to our local community and if they are spending money in repairing items it is unfair to us all as they would be struggling to maintain the services they are providing us. It’s clearly a "Selfish Behaviour" by this group and the Police will be investigating the criminal damage and ASB.

Finally I would like to ask Parents and Carers to speak to their young kids about socialising in groups. If they are caught in a group causing these issues then we will be dealing with them as a whole. Some individuals have been spoken to so we will be working with the Council and Schools to combat this issue.
If you have any info relating to this incident then please reply to this message.
I would like to wish everyone a Happy and Safe New Year 2019.
Stay Safe 👍
