Young kids playing on the roofs in Bell Street

Alert message sent 29/12/2018 17:28:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members

We received a number of reports relating to a group of young children between 8-10 years old are climbing onto the roof top in the area of Sainsburys, Iceland and Santander in Bell Street Wigston. This is becoming into a regular occurrence now and we have received many calls from businesses and local shoppers raising their concern for these children. We are still in the process of trying to identify these young children and I cannot express how dangerous this is as it takes just one wrong move. Could I please remind
parents and carers to check on their young children and if they do have smart phones to also check to see if they have been taking any videos or pictures of themselves on the roofs; so if this is the case please let us know.

We have had one call where a member of public had reported that one of the kids had almost fallen from the roof and the last thing we want to do is to go knocking on someone’s door telling them the bad news. If anyone has any information on the identification of these children to urgently let us know so this can be put to a stop before someone gets hurt. We are speaking to a number of agencies to see if we can put things in place to stop this but unfortunately this is a process which can be time consuming.  Please quote Sentinel 84308 if you have any info.

Thank you for your support.
