Shed Breaks is your shed secure

Alert message sent 15/10/2018 11:36:00

Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Dear Members of South Leicester

Hello, Hope you all are well. Your South Leicester team from Wigston located a male a few days ago wanted for a Burglary at a local shop in Wigston area. He has been identified via the investigation from local officers. Local officers saw the wanted Burglar on foot and was immediately arrested after a small foot chase. He has also been charged for the burglary in Wigston.

On checking recent stats there appears to be a few shed breaks on our area. Please could you ensure that you regularly check your sheds to ensure it is secure and not tampered with. You can get battery operated alarms with built in PIR sensors so if you don’t regularly go to your sheds maybe worth to have this for peace of mind. It may also be worth to purchase a good quality cable lock so you can lock items such as bikes, lawn mowers or anything bulky all together so this makes it more difficult for criminals stealing your bike if they wanted to make a quick grab and go. There are also padlocks with built in alarms which can be purchased from Wigston Police Station or the Internet.

There was a suspicious incident on Kingsmead Road in Knighton area. This occurred on Sunday 14/10/18 about 01:30am.  A witness saw two males dressed all in black go over a 6ft iron gate along with two bikes. One of the bikes was an orange colour. So far we have not had any victims come forward to report any theft of bikes unless you know anyone on that street who had their bikes stolen to please call us and quote reference LEP-141018-0074.

If you want to report crime or provide us with any intelligence you can do so via our force website portal if it is non urgent. If you follow us on Twitter please check out our progress on #OpBehold.

Please could I ask members to regularly check our force website and click on ‘local Policing’. We update regularly future upcoming events and shows our priorities for your area so worth checking this to see where your local teams are so you can meet them in person.
