PAVEMENT Parking

PAVEMENT Parking

Whilst patrolling Station Road, Kegworth, it was reported that a female with twins in a double buggy was unable to proceed along the footway due to an obstructing vehicle. The obstruction prevented safe passage and required the female to enter the roadway to continue her journey. This highlights the impact inconsiderate parking can have on vulnerable pedestrians and the importance of keeping footways clear at all times.

🚶‍♀️ Pavement Parking Puts People at Risk 🚶‍♂️

Pavement parking is dangerous and can have a significant impact on blind and partially sighted people, wheelchair users, those with mobility difficulties, and parents or carers with pushchairs.

Recently, on Station Road, Kegworth, a lady with twins in a double buggy was unable to get past a vehicle parked on the pavement. This meant she had to consider going into the road to continue her journey.

When pavements are blocked, people are often forced to: • Walk in the road alongside moving traffic
• Make lengthy detours
• Turn back and find an alternative route

Please help keep our footways accessible and safe for everyone. As a guide, leave enough clear space for a double buggy or wheelchair to pass safely.
