We hope you are keeping well. Below is our monthly Newsletter for October and a quick update from the last few days. Our crime reduction catalogue is also attached to this email.
Report of a theft of a white Ford transit van between 17:00 on the 25th and 08:25 on the 28th of September. The van was parked on Lutterworth road near the SPAR and contained a large quantity of tools. Please be reminded to secure vehicles like this and limit what items are left on it. Officers recovered a stolen motorbike from the chip shop area of Brookside at 16:00 on the 26th of September (stolen from Hinckley). If you saw anything suspicious in the area around this time, involving motorbikes, please get in touch. Please continue to be mindful of these thefts if you own a motorbike.
Our next local officer drop in is at the Three Pots post office on Monday 12th of October at 15:00.

Welcome to my monthly update for the residents and communities of the Burbage. Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
We have listened to you and the concerns you raised and prioritised the following: Below are our new priorities which we will be actioning this month. Below are our new priorities for the next few months.
Priority 1: Residential Burglary
You Said – Residents continue to tell us that residential burglary remains one of the crimes that causes the greatest fear within the community. Concerns have been raised about the increase in offences traditionally seen during the darker autumn and winter months, particularly between Halloween and Christmas. Reports and intelligence show that high-value items such as jewellery continue to be targeted, along with sheds, garages and outbuildings containing valuable property and tools. Community feedback, previous crime trends and seasonal crime patterns have all highlighted the need for a continued focus on burglary prevention and offender disruption.
Priority 2: Road Safety
You Said – Residents have consistently raised concerns regarding road safety, particularly around schools, residential streets and areas affected by speeding vehicles. Concerns increase during the autumn and winter months when darker evenings, poor weather conditions and reduced visibility create additional risks for road users. Feedback has also highlighted worries about dangerous driving, driver behaviour and drink or drug driving during the festive season. Community engagement, local reports and road safety data have all identified this as a priority for Burbage.
Priority 3: Vehicle Crime
You Said – Residents and local businesses have reported concerns about thefts involving vehicles, particularly tools being stolen from vans and the theft of motor vehicles. Previous years have seen an increase in tool thefts during October and November, followed by a rise in vehicle thefts during the festive period. These offences have a significant impact on victims, especially tradespeople who rely on their vehicles and equipment for their livelihood. Community concerns reported incidents and crime trend analysis have highlighted the need for proactive intervention before seasonal increases occur.
#WeDid - What we are doing
Residential Burglary - Over the coming months, your local policing team will continue to carry out targeted patrols in areas identified through crime data and intelligence. We will work alongside our neighbourhood watch networks and partner agencies to provide crime prevention advice, promote property marking and security measures, and identify vulnerable locations. Officers will conduct high-visibility patrols during peak offending times, pursue all available lines of enquiry to identify offenders and continue ongoing proactive work aimed at preventing burglary and reducing opportunities for criminals to operate within Burbage. During September, there was one report of an attempt residential break in Burbage. This was believed to be vehicle related. We have been completing patrols and raising awareness through events, visits to residents where requested and social media work to encourage people to consider their home security as we approach the darker nights and October half term. Overall, this was a really positive month.
Road Safety – Over the next three months, officers will carry out targeted road safety operations at locations highlighted by residents and local data. We will work with Community Speed Watch volunteers to tackle speeding and educate drivers, whilst delivering road safety engagement within schools through initiatives supported by funding secured from the Police and Crime Commissioner. High-visibility patrols and enforcement activity will focus on speeding, seatbelt use, mobile phone offences and drink or drug driving. Our aim is to improve safety for all road users and address the concerns raised by the local community. During September, we have been visiting school areas and engaging with motorists and parents. We have also completed multiple assemblies at Hastings and Burbage Juniors in relation to E-scooters. We have completed home visits where owners of E-scooters have been identified due to anti-social behaviour. We have also seized multiple vehicles which have been dumped on the highway with no tax. We will continue to monitor this behaviour from the people involved and will take action where needed. We are also working with HBBC to address these issues. Arrests also made for drink drive.
Vehicle Crime - We will continue targeted activity aimed at preventing theft from and of motor vehicles, including high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot locations. Officers will work with local businesses, tradespeople and residents to provide practical crime prevention advice and promote vehicle security measures. We will support ongoing crime prevention initiatives, including the use of forensic property-marking solutions such as SmartTrace, to make stolen tools easier to identify and recover. Intelligence-led operations will be conducted to deter offenders and identify those responsible for vehicle-related crime across the area. During September, We had one report of a motorhome being stolen from Sapcote Road industrial estate, a set of registration plates being stolen from a vehicle on Windsor Court and a report of a theft of a Ford transit van containing tools from Lutterworth road at the end of September. Other than this, there have been sporadic suspicious person reports including two males checking out a motorbike on Brookside. We continue to complete patrols and do lots of work such as our crime reduction event and beat events where we support residents and raise awareness around these types of crime. We have been completing work targeted at van owners with tools. This work will continue as we head towards the darker nights and October half term.
