We hope you are well. It has been a busy and mixed week of work in Burbage. Please take a look at what has been going on in Burbage and what we have been up to. 

Reported Crime and Appeals

Report on the 20th of September that at around 19:30 on Brookside (near the Rugby Road end) that several suspicious males entered a front garden and it appears they were targeting a motorbike. If you have any CCTV in the area of these suspicious persons, please get in touch. If you own a motorbike, please be aware of this activity and ensure your vehicle is out of sight and secure. If you see a crime in progress, please call 999 immediately. 

Reports of shoplifting from the SPAR on Lutterworth road. We currently have multiple open reports under investigation. If you live local to this area and have any information that may support our investigations, please get in touch. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk

Report of a road traffic collision on Lutterworth road on the 22nd of September at around 14:30. As a result, one person was arrested at scene on suspicion of driving whilst over the prescribed alcohol limit. Another person was taken to hospital and has since been released with no major injuries, at the time of writing. 

Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement

Officers attended an address following concerns regarding an occupant. After forced entry was gained, two males and one female were arrested. A quantity of suspected Class A drugs, cash, and weapons were seized from the property.

Enquiries remain ongoing and we are unable to comment further at this stage.

We have completed assemblies for year 7 and 8 at Hastings High School as well a an assembly at Burbage Juniors this week relating to the use of E-scooters, which appear to be very popular with younger children. As well as this work, the schools will be sending out a parent mail to ensure that all parents are fully aware that E-scooters are illegal. 

We have seized vehicles from Ratcliffe Road and Lychgate Lane this week due to being left abandoned on a public road with no tax. Despite our continued work and efforts to keep the roads safe and as clear as possible, some people continue to use the roads as a parking lot for unwanted or untaxed vehicles. 

We have completed work in the Herford Way area following reports of a “rogue trader” involving cold calling/cutting grass. The manner in which the youth went about this was not ideal and left some vulnerable people open to being taken advantage of. We have located and dealt with this male and his parents. We have also visited this area to attend a coffee morning where we spoke to residents and offered advice and support regarding these types of issues. 

Pc Davidson enjoying a tea and biscuit with residents, further work planned in including an event and patrols in the area. 

 Crime prevention and issues to be aware of

If you are off on holiday over the coming weeks, please ensure that you hide or remove jewellery and cash before you go. Use light timers, set alarms, and ask a neighbour to park on your drive if needed. Please also consider your vehicle security if you are leaving it at home. High powered, expensive vehicles can be targeted. Use steering locks, utilise your garage if you have one or block your vehicle in if you can. Historically, properties that look unoccupied will get targeted for residential burglary, so please take some time to think about this so you can have a nice relaxing holiday.
