🚔 Melton Town North Beat 🚔

Over recent weeks, I have been carrying out patrols and progressing various investigations across the Melton Town North Beat, whilst continuing to engage with residents and address issues affecting our local communities.

Whilst out on patrol, I attended a broken-down vehicle on the A607 after it unfortunately lost a wheel whilst travelling along the road. Thankfully, everyone involved was safe and unharmed. We ensured the scene was managed safely and the vehicle was recovered without any further issues.

I also came across another vehicle that had broken down whilst carrying out patrols. We stayed with the owner, helped ensure they remained safe at the roadside until they were able to get the vehicle moving again and continue their journey.

In addition, alongside PCSO French, I attended a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A6006. Incidents such as these highlight the importance of remaining vigilant whenever we're behind the wheel, particularly as we head into the autumn months.

🍂 Autumn Road Safety Reminder 🍂

As the seasons change, road conditions can become much more challenging. Wet roads, fallen leaves, foggy mornings, darker evenings and reduced visibility can all increase stopping distances and the likelihood of collisions.

Please take a few moments to ensure your vehicle is ready for the changing weather:

✅ Check your tyres regularly for tread depth and correct pressure.

 ✅ Ensure all lights are working and kept clean.

 ✅ Allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front.

 ✅ Reduce your speed and drive according to the conditions.

 ✅ Keep your windscreen clean and washer fluid topped up.

 ✅ Plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys during periods of poor weather.

With autumn and winter approaching, road traffic collisions can become a recurring issue. By making a few simple checks and adapting our driving to the conditions, we can all play our part in helping to keep our roads safe for everyone.
