🚔 WE ARE WARNING RESIDENTS TO BE ON THEIR GUARD FOLLOWING REPORTS OF COLD-CALLING ROOFERS OFFERING UNSOLICITED REPAIRS.
These traders may approach your door claiming that your roof is damaged, tiles are missing or that urgent work is required. Do not allow yourself to be pressured into agreeing to work on the spot.
❌ DON’T be bullied into making a quick decision.
❌ DON’T hand over large amounts of cash or pay substantial sums upfront.
❌ DON’T rely solely on photographs or claims made by a trader about damage you cannot see yourself.
❌ DON’T be afraid to say NO and close the door.
✅ Get independent advice.
✅ Obtain more than one written quotation.
✅ Check the trader and their business details before agreeing to anything.
✅ Speak to a family member, friend or trusted neighbour if you have concerns.
A genuine trader should not object to you taking time to consider the work or getting another quote.
If you have already agreed to work and are concerned about the trader, keep all paperwork, receipts, messages and photographs. Make a note of descriptions, vehicle registration numbers and any company details.

Rogue traders often target vulnerable and elderly residents. A quick share could prevent someone in your community from losing hundreds or even thousands of pounds.
