Burglary Alert - Thurcaston & Cropston

We would like to make residents aware that there have been a number of residential burglaries reported on the NL56 Beat area this week, occurring between the evening of 25 August and the early hours of 26 August 2026 in Thurcaston and Cropston.

In the reported incidents, offenders have gained entry by forcing access through downstairs doors and smashing glass window panels. A quantity of jewellery and other personal property has been stolen.

We are appealing to residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity, persons, or vehicles in their area.

Crime Prevention Advice

To help protect your home from burglary:

🔒 Ensure all doors and windows are locked, even when you are at home.

🔑 Keep keys away from doors, windows and letterboxes where they could be accessed by offenders.

💎 Store valuable items such as jewellery in a secure safe and consider marking property with a forensic marking solution.

💡 Use outdoor security lighting and consider installing CCTV or a video doorbell.

🌳 Keep hedges and shrubs trimmed to remove potential hiding places around doors and windows.

📦 Avoid leaving packaging for expensive purchases visible outside your property.

🏠 If you are away from home, use timer switches on lights to create the impression that the property is occupied.

👀 Look out for your neighbours and report any suspicious behaviour, particularly people looking into properties, testing door handles, or unfamiliar vehicles repeatedly driving around residential streets.

If you witnessed anything suspicious in Thurcaston or Cropston between the evening of 25 August and the early hours of 26 August, or have any relevant CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage, please report it to Leicestershire Police quoting the relevant incident number if known.
