It's been another busy and productive week for the Leicester City Beat Team, balancing community engagement, proactive policing and supporting ongoing investigations across the city centre. 🛍️ Community Crime Prevention Event Earlier this week, our PCSOs attended one of the city's shopping centres to host a crime prevention event. They spoke with visitors and businesses about personal safety, crime prevention measures and how to protect themselves from becoming victims of crime. 🚲 Tuesday 4 August PC Tom and PCSO Jane held a bike registration event in Town Hall Square. A number of bicycles were registered, helping to deter theft and improve the chances of recovery should a bike be stolen. Officers also carried out high-visibility patrols in the area to deter antisocial behaviour and provide reassurance to those visiting the city centre. 🤝 Wednesday 5 August Members of the Beat Team took part in a community project focused on engaging with young adults. The initiative provided an opportunity to build stronger relationships with an age group that can often be difficult to reach, helping to improve understanding and trust between the police and our communities. 🎓 Officer Safety Training Over the past few days, Sergeant Zane and PC Ellis have been attending officer safety training, refreshing the skills and tactics needed to effectively lead and support officers policing Leicester city centre. 🚔 Thursday 6 August Today, the team has been assisting with a number of live incidents. This included supporting an investigation following reports that security staff at Highcross Shopping Centre were assaulted by two females. Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody. Beat officers have been assisting with taking statements and progressing enquiries. 👮 Proactive Policing Success Through intelligence development and proactive work in the Town Hall Square area, the team played a key role in disrupting a significant drug line operating within the city centre. This work also led to action being taken against a prolific criminal, helping to make our communities safer and disrupt criminal activity. |
