As we move into the warmer months, your local Aylestone Police Team would like to share some important crime‑prevention advice and seasonal safety reminders to help keep our community safe and well.

Vehicle Crime Prevention

We continue to see opportunistic vehicle crime across the wider area, and simple steps can make a real difference. We’re asking all residents to:

Always lock your vehicle and ensure windows are fully closed, even if you’re only stepping away for a moment.

Remove valuables from view — bags, tools, loose change, and electronic devices are common targets.

Park in well‑lit areas where possible.

Consider using additional security such as steering locks or alarms.

Your vigilance helps us reduce crime and protect one another.

Home Security in Hot Weather

With the hot weather now here, many of us are keeping windows and doors open to stay cool. Please remember:

If you are leaving your home, even briefly, close and lock all doors and windows.

Don’t leave accessible windows open overnight.

Keep keys out of sight and away from letterboxes.

Opportunistic burglars often look for easy access, and these small steps significantly reduce risk.

Dog Safety in the Heat

A gentle reminder to all dog owners: hot weather can be extremely dangerous for pets.

Avoid walking dogs during the hottest parts of the day.

Early morning or late evening walks are safest.

Never leave a dog in a vehicle — even with windows open, temperatures rise rapidly and can be fatal.

Ensure pets have access to shade and plenty of fresh water.

Your care keeps them safe.
