South Leicester Police - Op Sceptre.

Dear South Leicester Resident.

You are receiving this message as you are a resident living on the area covered by the Freemen police beat team. 

This week saw the return of Sceptre a national week of action aimed at raising awareness and tackling knife crime.

During the week the local team have been out conducting retail visits and visible patrols all aimed at engaging with the community and discussing this serious issue. 

Retailers on the beat who do sell bladed articles were visited, reminded around the challenge 25 policy and asked to report any incident where young people try to purchase knifes, thankfully all the retailers were cooperative and adhering to standards.

Engagement with the community has focused around spotting the signs of anyone carrying a weapon and how and what to report, as well raising awareness on the seriousness and the dangers of carrying a weapon.
