Riverside Beat Priority Update |
||
|
Good evening all,
Please see the following update for this quarters priority around thefts from motor vehicles:
High‑visibility patrols were conducted at St Nicholas Circle NCP car park as part of the response to thefts from motor vehicles. Officers patrolled all levels of the car park on multiple occasions and engaged with members of the public, providing reassurance and general crime prevention advice.
Patrols also took place at the Leicester Infirmary staff car park, where security staff are now deployed during weekday daytime hours. Engagement was conducted with on‑site staff to confirm current security arrangements. Additional patrols covered areas previously targeted for vehicle crime, including Tower Street, Newtown Street, Burnmoor Street, Walnut Street, Jarrom Street, and the vicinity of the prison.
Following a reported theft involving damage to a vehicle at St Nicholas Circle car park, liaison took place with car park staff and local businesses. It was confirmed that barriers and pay machines had been removed, leaving the site temporarily insecure. Further discussions identified potential changes in ownership and plans to secure the site. Subsequent patrols observed reduced vehicle numbers, changes in security presence, and updated signage indicating new parking management arrangements.
Officers also attended a further theft from motor vehicle incident elsewhere on the beat, providing victim reassurance and completing CCTV enquiries. Intelligence was developed linking descriptions to a similar theft reported nearby.
Overall, patrol activity focused on disruption, reassurance and situational awareness at key vehicle crime locations, alongside partnership engagement to support longer‑term prevention and site security.
Many thanks
Sgt 1509 Wilson
