Birstall, Wanlip & Broadnook - April Newsletter |

|
Welcome to the monthly update for the residents and communities of the Birstall & Wanlip Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
Residential Burglaries
Officers have continued focused patrols in identified hotspot areas while engaging directly with residents to provide reassurance and practical crime‑prevention advice. This proactive approach has helped maintain a strong presence within the community and encourage vigilance.
Youth‑Related ASB (Antisocial Behaviour)
Evening and weekend patrols have been increased in areas where concerns have been raised, providing reassurance to residents and helping to prevent escalation of incidents. Officers are taking proportionate and incremental action, identifying those responsible and addressing behaviour at an early stage.
Vehicle‑Related Crime
Officers continue to use enforcement powers, including those under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act, in areas identified as hotspots for vehicle‑related crime. High‑visibility warning signage has been installed to deter offending, highlight enforcement activity, and reduce opportunities for theft or vehicle misuse.
We are working in partnership with the local council and businesses to develop long‑term preventative solutions, including joint initiatives and environmental improvements designed to reduce vulnerability and improve security. In addition, more officers have recently been trained to operate mobile speed‑camera equipment, supporting proactive patrols and targeted operations aimed at tackling offending linked to vehicle use later in the year.
