Bardon Beat Priorities April to June • HGVs breaching the weight limit in Ellistown, Ibstock and Heather
You said HGVs are ignoring the weight restriction and using roads in Ellistown, Ibstock and Heather when they are not permitted to do so. This has been particularly noted on Whitehill Road and Ibstock Road in Ellistown. Leicester Road, Station Road and Ashby Road in Ibstock. Pisca Lane and Swepstone Road in Heather.
We will patrol the roads mentioned, as well as others that come to light, in marked and unmarked police vehicles. We will stop and check HGVs and take action against those deliberately breaching the weight restriction without an exemption.
This has been communicated through Neighbourhood Link (NHL) surveys, e-mails and calls to the Beat Team and discussed at our community events.
• Youths causing ASB in Agar Nook and Greenhill
You said teenagers are causing Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) on the parks in and around Greenhill, at some of the local shops In Greenhill and some of the residential streets in Agar Nook.
This has been communicated through Neighbourhood Link (NHL) surveys, e-mails and calls to the Beat Team and partner agencies. These include North West Leicestershire District Council and housing providers such as East Midlands Housing.
We will make targeted visits to the areas brought to our attention. We will deter the ASB by engaging with young people in the area and take action against those causing the ASB. We will use the ASB incremental approach to engage, educate and enforce peaceful and respectful behaviour working with partner agencies in a joint approach to achieve this.
• Speeding in Hugglescote, Whitwick and Thringstone
You said cars are driving at an excessive speed on Grange Road in Hugglescote, Leicester Road in Whitwick, Thornborough Road in Whitwick and Loughborough Road in Thringstone.
This has been communicated through Neighbourhood Link (NHL) surveys, e-mails and calls to the Beat Team and discussed at our community events.
We will conduct speeding test operations on these roads, and others that are identified, to ensure drivers (or riders) are not exceeding the speed limit. We will take appropriate action with those caught which can include words of advice, Traffic Offence Reports, fines and DVLA licence points.
