Year 9 students at Rushey Mead Academy recently took part in a powerful and eye‑opening full‑day “Prison Me No Way!” programme 📚, designed to educate young people about real‑life risks, consequences, and making safer choices.

The event was made possible thanks to CAP funding, secured by Sarah at Rushey Mead Academy alongside PC Kim (1327) 👏. This funding supported a full schedule of impactful guest speakers and interactive sessions, all aimed at delivering honest and memorable messages.

Throughout the day, students heard directly from individuals with lived experience an

d specialist organisations, covering a wide range of important topics:

🔒 Prison Life – a first‑hand account from someone who has served time
🚆 Rail Safety – delivered by Network Rail, highlighting the dangers

 around the rail network
🏠 Domestic Abuse Awareness – a survivor bravely shared their personal experience
🚗 Road Safety – a powerful account from a parent who tragically lost his daughter in an RTC
🔪 Knife Crime – a real‑life story showing the devastating consequences of violence
⛑️ First Aid – vital lifesaving skills delivered by the Red Cross
💊 Drugs & Alcohol Awareness – understanding the risks and long‑term impacts

One of the most memorable parts of the day was the opportunity for students to step inside a life‑sized prison cell — a powerful reminder of where poor choices can lead.
