Community Safety Message – Braunstone & Rowley Fields

Good evening,

We are making residents aware that another cannabis grow has been discovered on Dumbleton Road this evening.

Illegal cannabis cultivation brings serious risks to our community, including fire hazards, antisocial behaviour, and links to wider criminal activity. We really need your help to identify suspicious activity so we can keep everyone safe.

How to spot the signs of a cannabis grow

You may notice one or more of the following:

Strong, unusual smells, often described as sweet or pungent, coming from a property

Windows permanently covered with foil, blinds, or sheeting, even during the day

Lights on at unusual hours, especially overnight, with no normal household activity

Condensation on windows all year round

Constant humming or buzzing noises from fans or ventilation equipment

People visiting briefly at odd times, or a property that appears lived in but never genuinely used

Tampered electrics, such as cables running from street lamps or neighbouring buildings

Overflowing bins or discarded plant material

What to do

Do not confront anyone or put yourself at risk

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts
