ASB - An Update

With a no-nonsense approach to ASB including collaborative working with partner agencies, diversionary schemes for youths and robust use of the incremental approach to ASB we saw a 31% overall reduction in reports in 2025 compared to 2024, with a 41% reduction during the peak 6 month period - but as summer approaches we are anticipating an increase again, and we are raady.

✅ This week myself and PCSO Cara located and detained two youths causing damage whilst trespassing- both were subsequently arrested for burglary.
✅ I am working with local stores to identify problem youths - one has already been formally identified and will be getting a visit this week.
✅ We have already started targeting the antisocial use of e-bikes and e-scooters in the area, seizing some high-powered bikes from antisocial youths.
✅ We are already making plans with Oadby & Wigston Borough Council to improve CCTV in South Wigston and to divert youths from ASB before they become involved.

I was recently asked "Have you got nothing better to do than seize toys off kids" - the bikes we seize are not toys, they are illegal motor vehicles, and I can say from experience it hurts rather a lot being hit at 30mph by one! 🚑

E-bikes are increasingly being used in the commission of other criminal offences including drug dealing and theft so we make no apologies in seizing these illegal and dangerous vehicles.

Antisocial behaviour isn’t “just a bit of fun” — it has real consequences for real people. From noise disturbances and vandalism to intimidating behaviour in public spaces, these actions can leave communities feeling unsafe, frustrated, and isolated.

Parents/carers/guardians:
-If your child is out late, do you know where they are?
-Do you know the people they are with?
-Do you know the signs of Child Criminal Exploitation? 'Simple ASB' often leads to criminality.

Every report helps us build a clearer picture of what is happening and where. If you witness or experience antisocial behaviour, please tell us. Your information helps us take action, support those affected, and keep our communities safe and enjoyable for all.
