Good afternoon, I wanted to share a brief update on the recent work we’ve been doing as part of the Belgrave Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP). Our aim is to continue improving safety, supporting local retailers, and strengthening community engagement across the area. Challenge 25 Operation – January 2026 We carried out a follow‑up Challenge 25 test‑purchase operation, and I’m pleased to report a significant improvement. Eight out of eleven shops passed, compared to the previous 0% pass rate. One premises also received a warning letter after issues were identified. Business that showed compliance were issued letters recognising their good practice. School Engagement & CAP‑Funded Education – January 2026 Rushey Mead Academy delivered a full day of workshops for Year 9 students, covering alcohol awareness, criminality, risk‑taking behaviours, and personal safety. This event was funded through CAP and included guest speakers and a life‑size prison cell installation to support learning. Beat Surgeries & Community Contact – January to March 2026 We’ve held several beat surgeries at local cafés and at Sainsbury’s on Melton Road, sharing CAP information, listening to concerns, and offering crime‑prevention advice. These sessions continue to help us stay connected with residents. CAP Bollard Covers Unveiled – Early 2026 Our new CAP bollard covers—designed by Turning Point and students from Rushey Mead Academy—are now on display across Belgrave. One even appeared in national media during the visit of Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales. CAP Awards – March 2026 I had the honour of attending the national CAP Awards in Westminster, recognising the positive progress Belgrave CAP has made in its first year. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to sharing more updates as the partnership continues to develop. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reply or attend one of our upcoming community events. Kind regards, Your local Belgrave Beat Team |
