Riverside beat team – Weekly Update
It has been a productive week for the Riverside team, with a strong focus on community engagement, safety, and proactive policing.
💙 Supporting Student Wellbeing – DMU Mental Health Café
V and Phil visited the DMU Mental Health Café - a warm and welcoming space where students and members of the public can drop in for support, a chat or a moment for their well being.
🚲 Operation Pedalfast – E‑Bike & E‑Scooter
Merryn and V along with city neighbourhood officers were out in the city centre carrying out e bike and e scooter safety checks alongside Immigration Enforcement. We’ve received multiple reports from members of the public of incidents and near misses by e bikes/e scooters. Our priority is keeping people safe
🏫 DMU Open Day – Meeting Future Students
V and Jess attended the DMU Open Day, speaking with future students and their families about staying safe in Leicester. We also encouraged people to sign up to Neighbourhood Link to stay informed about what’s happening in their area. 📲
🚓 High Visibility Patrols Across Riverside
Our team has been out on proactive patrols all week, gathering intelligence, tackling ongoing issues and providing reassurance across the beat.
🏢 Keeping Residential Blocks Safe
Hafsa and Jas visited Minster court to speak with residents about safety.
They shared important advice:
🔸 Ensure doors close fully behind you when leaving and entering 🔸 Don’t allow unknown individuals to follow you inside 🔸 Report suspicious behaviour 🔸 Keep communal areas secure to prevent rough sleeping and related issues
🚼 Seatbelt Safety –
V and Phil stopped a vehicle where young children were not wearing seat belts. The driver was dealt with appropriately for transporting children to danger. The team also dealt with other traffic related incidents and a road traffic collision during the week.
