Burbage Police Weekly Update. Drug Drive Arrest, School Fights! And Patrols. |
||||
|
Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Report from Canberra Way at 13:20 on the 17th, where a vehicle has driven into bollards. No injuries reported but upon Police attendance, the driver was drug wiped and as a result of a positive test, was arrested.
Report of suspicious van on Brookside/Far Lash on the 18th of March between 08:00-08:15. A school child was concerned around the behaviour of the driver of the van. We are making efforts to identify the vehicle involved and understand any motives. It may not be anything to be concerned about but please ensure children are aware of their “stranger danger” messages and to notify Police immediately if there are an concerns. 26000157586
The nice weather over recent days appears to have brought out some silly behaviour from a minority of youths. We have been addressing isolated reports from around Burbage. Work includes identifying those involved and speaking to parents. Areas of concern include Lucas Road, Higham Way, Boyslade Road and several parks.
Concerns raised regarding tyres being let down on the Hinckley Road car park, and smells of Cannabis in the area. If you have any information around these issues, please get in touch. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
We completed our beat surgery at the SPAR. We spoke to residents and supported with crime reduction items such as RFID car wallets and shed security. We also handed out items such as bicycle lights and road safety books to our younger residents.
We have been completing lots of patrols around areas such as East Close, Lucas Road, Brookside, Higham Way, Hinckley Road and Hastings High School. We have also been speaking to individual youths around online safety.
Patrols completed in the evening and late night. We have been out in marked cars and on the bicycle. Using the bike helps patrol locations such as parks and alley ways, and often results in increased community engagement.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Driving under the influence of Cannabis, other drugs or Alcohol can have very serious consequences. As we recently mentioned, please ensure you know the law and are always fit to drive. Drugs and driving: the law - GOV.UK
Anti-social behaviour. If you are a parent of a teenager, or have teenage grandchildren, whilst it is difficult to monitor their social media activity, please ensure they are not getting involved in “arranged school fights”. This could be by encouraging this behaviour online or in person at school. If these types of events do happen, we will look to deal with all those either directly involved, or those encouraging this type of behaviour. We continue to work closely with schools, and we are patrolling the local area at targeted times. It goes without saying that inevitably someone ends up getting hurt, or it causes a lot of fear and anxiety in the area, which is completely unnecessary.
Thank you and take care.
