Op Bus: South Wigston #YouSaidWeDid |
||
|
Dear Residents,
In recent meetings, we have been told that drug dealing and drug‑related activity were becoming increasingly visible in parts of South Wigston.
We did: We have initiated Operation Bus, a dedicated drugs operation targeting supply networks operating in and around South Wigston. The operation focuses on identifying key offenders involved in the distribution of controlled substances, safeguarding vulnerable people exploited within the trade, and reducing the wider community harm caused by drug‑related activity.
As part of the operation, officers have identified that dealers are increasingly using e‑scooters and e‑bikes to transport drugs quickly across the area. These vehicles allow offenders to move at speed, avoid detection, and travel through parks, alleyways, and estates where traditional policing tactics are less effective.
To tackle this, Operation Bus will work closely with Op Pedalfast, Leicestershire Police’s targeted initiative to seize illegally used e‑scooters and e‑bikes linked to criminality. Officers will use lawful powers to remove these from circulation, disrupting dealer mobility and restricting their ability to operate across the community.
Operation Bus is underpinned by intelligence‑led policing and partnership working, allowing officers to target the right locations, protect vulnerable individuals—particularly young people being exploited as runners—and take decisive action against those causing the most harm.
And yes, for those asking, this will also include the use of nitrous oxide cannisters!
We look forward to sharing some great results with you, and in light of this, please continue to report any concerns. You can do so anonymously. Giving information | Crimestoppers
Many thanks, PC Reece Breslin
