ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR- We’ve received complaints about cannabis use at properties on Oxbow Close, Blackberry Crescent and Kennelmore Road. We’ve also had reports of a nuisance motorbike on Badger Avenue, which we are continuing to monitor. Through Neighbourhood Link, ASB call-backs and social media, residents have raised concerns about anti-social behaviour across the Melton Town South beat. The team has been working hard over recent weeks to tackle these issues. We are continuing to monitor reports of cannabis use on Oxbow Close and are actively looking into the nuisance motorbike on Badger Avenue to identify those responsible. There have also been ongoing thefts from BP and M&S on Leicester Road. A problem management plan is now in place, and we are working closely with colleagues and partner agencies to reduce these incidents. We will continue to keep a close eye on these locations and will escalate matters where necessary. Officers are also carrying out patrols around local schools at opening and closing times to provide reassurance and address inconsiderate parking.
DRUG DEALING-Through Neighbourhood Link, Social Media accounts, and direct community feedback and information, the community have raised the issue of Drug Dealing on the Melton Town South Beat. which seems to be a common issue across the whole beat. We continue to conduct high visible foot patrols around the areas that we suspect drug dealing is occurring. We continue to support the most vulnerable persons in the community and visiting those that we have identified as being at risk of cuckooing. SPEEDING-Through Neighbourhood Link, reports made direct to officers and the force, the community have raised the issues of road safety and speeding vehicles on the Melton Town South Beat. Although this is not speeding issue, we have had reports of HGV vehicles going through the weight restricted zones on Norfork Drive, Sandy Lane and Craven Street. We’re putting speed‑calming measures in place where possible, using speed cameras and high‑visibility patrols. Regular speed checks are helping to reduce vehicle speeds across the area. The speed monitoring van is also regularly deployed on the Melton Town South beat. We’ll continue further speed checks in the areas highlighted to us. Although not speed‑related, we know HGVs breaching weight‑restricted zones remain a concern. We are monitoring these routes, and any offending vehicles will be dealt with appropriately.
We recognise how anti-social behaviour can impact people both mentally and physically. Please report ASB online at https://www.leics.police.uk/ or via 101 (always call 999 in an emergency).
