Local Drone & Throwover Awareness

Dear Residents,

It is a criminal offence to fly a drone over a prison.

It is a criminal offence to throw items into a prison.

HMP Gartree and Leicestershire Police are working in partnership to prevent contraband entering the prison. Thanks to the vigilance of local residents and members of the public there has been some reports of suspicious activity near the prison perimeter. Every report helps the prison and police to respond quickly, arrest suspects and safely intercept packages.

If you see or hear a drone, someone throwing items into a prison or other suspicious activity please report it:-

If you witness someone throwing an item into a prison or believe this is about to happen please contact the police on 999.

Be prepared to provide a description of the suspect(s), location, vehicle descriptions (if in sight) and direction of travel.

If you see or hear a drone please report it directly to the prison. Drones are likely to be late at night or in the very early hours of the morning.
