Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.
We hope you have had a relaxing few days. Thank you for your ratings to these messages and kind messages of thanks. They are all read and really appreciated.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Report of a theft of a Ford Mondeo in the early hours of the 21st of December from Higham Way. The vehicle has been recovered and one male arrested.
We have received several of reports of theft/attempt thefts from sheds. One incident is from Abbotts Green where a bicycle was stolen but then found in a neighbour’s garden. Another report from Abbotts Green where 3 high value bicycles were stolen, they were locked in the shed and secured before the theft. A third report was received from Saddlers Close that at around 18:10 on the 21st of December, 3 suspects were seen attempting to enter sheds on Saddlers Close. 25000745837. If you have any CCTV or saw any suspicious activity in this area on the 21st between 17:30 – 18:30, please get in touch. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
During the Christmas period, we have received 32 calls to Police. These calls are mainly reports of assault, public order or domestic related. 6 were emergency and 3 priority calls.
Vehicle recovered from Ratcliffe Road due to no tax following reports it had been abandoned there. Despite attempts to locate the keeper, we were left with no choice other than to remove/seize the vehicle. As we are all aware, parking is premium in Burbage, so untaxed and abandoned vehicles really do not help the community when dumped on the road.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Please consider padlock alarms, shed signage and shed alarms to protect your shed. High value bicycles and tools may be targeted over the coming weeks. Please get in touch if we can be of any assistance. I have attached the crime prevention catalogue where you can view these items sold at cost. Darren.stretton@leivs.police.uk
Report of a found small bicycle with North Face Coat and bicycle helmet on the Colts Close Park. If these belong to your child, please get in touch asap so we can try and get them back to you.
Scam phone call from housing officer, report from resident. Call from someone claiming to be from “their housing officer” stating they have problems with their property. It is unknown what type of information they were after but no doubt it would end up in you handing money over. Whenever you are answering the phone, please be mindful of the potential for scams. Don’t be afraid to just hang up.
We hope you have a Happy and safe New Year.
