Police: Update on past few shifts |
||
|
Hello Rutland! ๐
Itโs been a very busy few days โ just some of the things I can tell you about here are...
Foot patrols ๐ฅพ
But a big chunk of time has been taken up by road traffic collisions, which some of (not all), seem to have been caused by drivers travelling too fast for the conditionsโ
With all the rain weโve had, (and more forecast next week ๐ง๏ธ), here are some essential tips for driving safely in wet weather and flood water ๐
โ
Slow down, drive to the conditions and increase your stopping distance โ wet roads can double your braking distance.
โ ๏ธ Ease off the accelerator.
๐ Flood water advice ๐
โ Never drive through flood water if you canโt see the road beneath it โ just 30cm of water can float a car! If you must go through shallow water:
๐ Go slowly and steadily.
โ๏ธ If in doubt, turn around somewhere safeโ itโs not worth the risk ๐ซ
Road Safety is one of your local priorities, and these simple steps can prevent serious collisions. Please share this post to remind friends and family to take extra care during this wet spell.
Stay safe Rutland!
