Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Report of a theft of a Kia Sportage from Forresters Road (near Far Lash junction) at 22:45 on the 13th of December. The vehicle was taken by keyless entry. If you have any CCTV in the area and spot any suspicious persons or vehicles around this time, please get in touch. 25000727897. It does appear that the Kia Sportage is getting targeted at the moment, so if you have this type of vehicle, please ensure you have RFID wallets, steering locks and review your home security.
There were several reports from around 13:10 – 13:20 on the 15th of December, in the areas of Darley Road/Merrfield Gardens and then Sunloch Close at 13:45, regarding a disturbance involving several males and vehicles. We also had a report from Featherston Drive of a nonstop road traffic collision at 13:20. If you have any information or CCTV and have not already contacted Police, please get in touch. 25000731652. There have been several reports from industrial estates over the last week where units and vehicles have been targeted. If you work or own any of these units, or any other business in Burbage, please do not leave cash on site, ensure vehicles are left alarmed and covered by CCTV, and ensure you have proportionate security such as alarms, steering locks and CCTV.
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
During patrols overnight, officers’ attention was drawn to a vehicle on Pickering Place/Woodland Avenue at 02:00. Under S23, the occupants were searched and a small amount of class A and class B drugs recovered. The vehicle was seized due to no licence and no insurance.
Pc Davidson has been completing patrols around Burbage. He completed around 40 miles of high visibility patrols in one shift, covering most areas of Burbage.
We have attended Sketchley Hill Primary school for a meeting with the head teacher and deputy head teacher, in response to some recent concerns around parent parking in the area. We are completing some work with the school and preparing for January when historically, issues increase. We will update you on this over the coming weeks and months. We have also been completing patrols around the school and challenging parents around inconsiderate and dangerous parking (parking on junctions, parking opposite junctions, blocking driveways).
As requested, we visited the Britannia Fields Playgroup where we briefly spoke to the children about road safety. They had lots of fun with the Police uniform and Burbage Bear. As always, it was a pleasure to visit these types of groups.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
A laptop bag and other items were found by litter pickers on Sketchley Lane this week. We have collected them and booked into property. It is suspected they may be from a residential burglary. I have not managed to locate the owner so if this is yours, please get in touch. 25000731429
We will be completing our monthly beat surgery at the SPAR on Friday the 19th from around 15:00-16:30, we will then be attending the carols around the tree event on Church Street from around 19:00-21:00. Hope to see you there.
Thank you and take care.
