Westcotes Neighbourhood Update

Here is an update on the work your Westcotes Neighbourhood Policing Team has carried out this week to keep our area safe and supported:

Fatal 4 Road Safety Enforcement:

Officers conducted targeted patrols focusing on the Fatal 4 offences: speeding, drink/drug driving, mobile phone use and seatbelt non-compliance. Several drivers were stopped, given advice, and where necessary, enforcement action was taken. These operations help reduce the risk of serious collisions and keep our roads safer for everyone.

Arrest Attempt for Wanted Individual:

We carried out planned arrest attempt for an individual who was wanted. Each visit involved careful planning and partnership working to ensure we follow every lead and keep offenders accountable.

Leicester City Stadium Match Deployment:

Westcotes officers supported match-day policing at the Leicester City stadium. Our role included crowd management, safeguarding vulnerable supporters, and ensuring the event remained safe and enjoyable for all. Large matches require significant coordination, and the operation was well received.

Engagement with Young People’s Shared Accommodation:

Officers visited shared accommodation address housing young people. We checked in with residents, offered support, discussed safety concerns, and provided advice on accessing services. These visits help build trust and ensure young people feel safe and supported.

High-Risk Arrest Assistance:

Westcotes officers provided support to another policing unit during a high-risk arrest. Public order tactics were used to ensure the situation was dealt with safely, quickly, and professionally, reducing any risk to the public and officers involved.

Shopping Area Patrols:

We maintained regular patrols in the local shopping areas in the city centre , engaging with shop staff, speaking with local businesses, and providing reassurance to visitors. These patrols help deter theft, antisocial behaviour and maintain a positive, safe shopping environment.

PCSOs Assisting at the Front Desk:

Our PCSOs stepped in to help at the front counter during a busy period. They supported members of the public with reporting, general enquiries and crime prevention advice, helping ensure our service remained accessible and efficient.

Recall to Prison Arrest:

Officers located and arrested an individual who was wanted on recall to prison. Following swift action, the individual was safely returned to custody to complete their outstanding sentence requirements.

Court Order Follow-Up:

The team visited a local address to follow up a court order, ensuring the conditions were being complied with. These visits are vital in protecting victims, supporting court decisions, and reducing further offending.
