Burbage Police Weekly Update. Theft From Vehicles, Residential Burglary Appeals And Home Security. |
||
|
Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Two suspects reported due to checking vehicle doors on the morning of the 20/11/2025. The time frame of these incidents as below. Suspects were trying car door handles and entering if the vehicle was left unlocked. So far, not much has been taken other than a bit of loose change. Please ensure vehicles are locked and secure and do not leave items such as cash, bags, wallets or electrical items in the vehicle. This is a timely reminder as we approach Christmas, and it may be tempting to leave items in vehicles. We have received a lot of CCTV but would like some nice facial images of the suspects if anyone has any and has not been in touch already. 25000680850 Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk Jubilee Way – 00:35 Britannia Road – 01:50 Lychgate Close – 02:10 De La Bere Crescent – 02:30
Report of a residential burglary on Sapcote Road (near the Winchester Drive junction). Suspects have entered by breaking the patio door and entering the property before they fled the scene taking items of jewellery. Police were called immediately. Police attended and completed work in the area. If you have any CCTV in this area (Winchester Drive/Sapcote Road) between 20:45-21:15 on the 21st of November, please take a look for anything suspicious (vehicles and suspects) and get in touch. 25000683918 Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
On the same night, report of another Residential burglary on Grove Road, near Twycross Road junction. Suspects have smashed a back door window and attempted to make entry. It appears they left the scene quickly. Nothing taken as far as we are aware. Timeframe is 21st November 18:00 to 07:00. 25000684681
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
We have been responding to the above reports and completing work in these areas to support with investigations. We have also been speaking to residents and completing leaflet drops whilst in these areas to raise awareness. Please ensure your property looks occupied, use light timers/window alarms and set house alarms if you have them. Remove/hide valuables such as jewellery and cash. If you see any suspicious characters and believe there to be a crime in progress, call 999 immediately. Criminals are generally targeting properties that look like no one is in. Patrols are also ongoing in the area to deter, or identify those involved.
I will be at the Burbage Christmas Market with Police volunteer Jackie from 16:00-22:00 on Friday 28th November on Windsor Street. We will have crime reduction items such as RFID car wallets, window alarms, shed alarms, fence cactus spikes and much more, sold at cost. Wrap up warm and hope to see you there.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Up until half term on October, Burbage had been relatively low regarding crime such as vehicle theft and residential burglary. During the darker nights, these types of crime increase, not just in Burbage, but nationwide. We continue to try and support residents in multiple ways, from patrols, stop checks/searches, investigations, victim support and general crime reduction methods. Please review home security and if you have any elderly friends, family or neighbours, pass on our advice (having some lights on, removing jewellery etc). The more we can make it difficult for criminals, the less likely they will target the area.
We are more than happy to offer support to individuals and continue to keep you updated on what is happening in the area. This really helps raise awareness and hopefully prevents additional victims of these types of crime. If you would like to see crime figures for the area, or other areas, they can be found here (I did get a request for this information this week). Burbage | Your area | Leicestershire Police
