Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week. We would just like to say a quick thank you for the ratings and feedback we receive regarding these messages. They are really appreciated and it is good to know these messages get read and help raise awareness. Thank you.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Since our last report on the 13th, we have received 1 report of a residential Burglary on Gleneagles Close on the 15th of November between 18:30 – 21:00. It appears the back door was left unlocked. Items such as computer consoles and cash were taken. If you have any CCTV in the area that may be of help, please get in touch. 25000675738
Report from Sketchley Grange Hotel where a Ford Transit van has been stolen from the car park. Incident occurred between 17:00 on the 13th and 07:40 on the 14th. 25000667781.
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
We have received reports of suspicious vehicles in areas such as Canberra Way and Gatcombe Close. We are completing work on the information provided and we are continuing with our patrols in the area where stop checks and general high visibility work is being carried out. We are continuing to spend a lot of time around the areas that were recently targeted for residential burglary.
We will have a stall at the Burbage Christmas market on Windsor Street on Friday 28th November from around 16:00-22:00. It is usually a great community event, so please pop along. We will have our usual crime reduction items available for sale (sold at cost). We hope to see you there. Wrap up warm.
We have patrolled some school areas including Burbage Infants/Juniors in response to concerns of bad parking and general driving offences. As always, we ask parents and motorists in the area to be sensible and mindful of potential dangers.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Resident scam awareness: Text message received from “Pudsey” Children in need appeal scam. Text messages claim that they were unable to process the recent donation. The message then provides a link to make a payment. Please do not use these links or make payments.
We have also had a couple of residents get in touch regarding suspicious persons door knocking. It appears these people were collecting donations for Great Ormand Street Hospital, and it appears to be legitimate. Whilst some of the charity collectors may be genuine, I would advise never to give cash or personal details to anyone cold calling, this includes charities. The issue is that you can never be 100% confident that they are legitimate, and this can often raise anxiety after the fact. This method does not give you time to consider your financial situation and you may feel rushed or pressured. If you wish to donate to charities, you can contact the charity directly through official phone numbers or websites in your own time.
Thank you and take care.
