As we celebrate Bonfire Night, your local police team is here to help ensure everyone enjoys the evenings safely and respectfully. Whether you're attending a public display or celebrating at home, please keep these important tips in mind: ๐ Firework Safety: Only buy fireworks from licensed sellers and follow the instructions carefully.Keep fireworks in a closed box and light them one at a time at armโs length.Never go back to a lit firework โ even if it hasnโt gone off.Always supervise children around fireworks and sparklers. ๐ฅ Bonfire Safety: Build bonfires well away from buildings, trees, fences, and sheds.Never use petrol or other accelerants to light a fire.Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby in case of emergencies.Make sure the fire is fully extinguished before leaving it unattended. ๐ฅ Respecting Others: Be mindful of neighbours, especially those with pets, young children, or vulnerable individuals who may find fireworks distressing.Avoid setting off fireworks late at night โ the legal cut-off is 11pm, extended to midnight on Bonfire Night.If someone has displayed signs asking not to be disturbed, please respect their wishes. ๐จ General Advice: Attend organised displays where possible โ theyโre safer and more spectacular!Keep pets indoors and comfort them during loud noises.Report any unsafe or anti-social behaviour to us. ๐๐ฎโโ๏ธ Have a great time and stay safe! ๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐ฅ
