Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Report of a residential burglary on Herald Way (near Sketchley Lane/Lance Close) sometime between 10:30-23:30 on Thursday 23rd of October. There are currently no signs of forced entry to the property, and a quantity of high value jewellery has been taken. If you saw anything suspicious or have CCTV in the area that may help us, please get in touch. We will be trying to obtain a better timeframe over the coming days. 25000623850 Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Report from Ilminster Close (junction of Salisbury Road) just coming in, where suspects have tried to gain entry through the back door and have broken the lock. It does not appear any entry was made to the property. They have also damaged (scratched) both sides and front and back of the vehicle on the drive. It is suspected the vehicle was the target of this crime. LEP-241025-0145 if you have any CCTV or information that may help.
If you own items such as Gold, expensive jewellery including watches, please do not leave these items lying about and be mindful as to who knows you own them. Consider indoor CCTV, a safe, and keeping items in hard to locate areas.
We have received several reports this week from Burbage residents regarding scams. These include incidents of fraud where scammers have gained bank details to order items from Sky (such as tablets), with the intention of collecting them from home address when delivered. Another report where scammers have transferred money from an elderly resident’s bank account. Please be mindful of all types of scams, and if you have any elderly neighbours or relatives, please keep a look out. You can report scams and see further information around this type of crime via this link Action Fraud
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
Stop search completed on a male whilst officers were seizing a stolen vehicle in the Woodland Avenue area. Vehicle was stolen out of area.
We have been supporting Burbage residents with items such as fence cactus spikes and RFID car wallets. With recent reports of suspicious activity and the general increase in Burglary and car theft during the darker nights, we will do as much as possible to support in preventing these types of crime. We are also working on the recent incidents of Burglary and working with local shops due to some persistent shop lifting.
PC Davidson has been out and about completing patrols and speaking to residents in areas such as Cowper Road, Hereford Way, Brookside and Lucas Road.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Just a reminder for Sunday 2nd of November, we will be at the Millennium Hall with our crime prevention items at the Emma Shaw foundation charity indoor Christmas market from 12:00-16:00. Please pop in and take a look, last year was a really good event, lots of stalls. Our items are sold at cost. Examples include window alarms for £3, Fence cactus spikes 10 for £8, shed padlock alarms £8.50, RFID car wallets £2 and much more. Cash only.
Our Confidence survey is open until the end of the month, so if you haven’t already, it would be appreciated if you can take a few moments. The feedback is read and your points taken on board so why not have your say. Thank you very much to those who have already filled it in. https://survey.neighbourhoodlink.co.uk/Survey/GUID/e4207acb-bd0b-4000-b735-d4ae32bcffd6
As mentioned above, please review your home security due to increased jewellery crime and potential vehicle crime as we head into the darker nights. Simple actions and visual deterrents can deter opportunistic criminals. Driveway bollards/steering locks and home security will make your property less likely to be targeted.
Thank you and take care.
