TOWN CENTRE BEAT UPDATE |

Town Centre Update
With half term upon us the beat team have been spending a lot of time patrolling the regular ASB hotspots including reports of yoof on the roof in town. Thankfully most retail outlets now have CCTV covering the flat roof areas, so they are quickly spotted, located and moved on by robust retailers. In regards to retail crime we are seeing the same regular faces still thinking playing ‘Supermarket Sweep’ is a real thing and deciding to grab stuff and not pay for what they take. Wrong…..there are a few investigations in progress, and it’ll be a Court Judge handing out the prize of remand and not Rylan Clark showing off his Pearly Whites. As usual a mixed bag with a couple of extractions, when we get assigned to duties away from our regular beat due to demand or large events in the wider force area. So it was that this week the beat PCSO got extracted to assist with the Diwali celebrations on Belgrave Road in the city with thousands celebrating the festival of lights. As the weather generally deteriorates with Autumn having arrived, we assisted with a couple of RTCs including a two car RTC on Dalby Road. Held a Beat Surgeries at the Hangar and had a good chat with local residents – busy place early doors on a Sunday morning. The next one is on November 4th at the Cattle market so if you want to have a chin wag about something, anything Policey- even if you’re not sure, then pop down for a chat with any concerns you may have locally. The Town beat team will obviously be heavily involved in the forthcoming Halloween and Bonfire night celebrations so expect to see an increased Police presence in the Town Centre during this period. | ||
