Two privately-owned e-scooters have been seized today for being ridden illegally on public roads in Leicestershire.

Let’s be clear: privately-owned e-scooters are illegal to use on public highways, pavements, and public spaces. They cannot be taxed, insured, or MOT’d, which means they do not meet legal requirements under the Road Traffic Act.

Leicestershire Police have issued repeated warnings over the past few years. The message hasn’t changed:
❌ No insurance
❌ No licence
❌ No legal use in public

If you're caught riding one, it will be seized—no further warnings.
