School Parking Issues

Good afternoon,

The Beat team are having multiple complaints about parking around schools before and after school times. Please can I remind everyone about parking around schools.

No parking on Zig-Zag lines

No parking on ‘keep clear zones’

No parking that will obstruct someones drive way ie not on drop curbs

No parking so you are obstructing routes for emergency services

No parking on pavements

These rules are in place for a reason. These restrictions are in place to keep children, parents and other pedestrians safe by ensuring clear visibility to prevent accidents. Furthermore, keeping these areas clear, schools and local Councillors help to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow during busy periods.

Always pay attention to road markings and signs

Park legally- In designated spaces where it is permitted

Travel actively- Schools are blocked with cars during busy periods, so I would encourage walking, running or cycling to school to pick up children, which would reduce the number of cars on the road!

As always please feel free to send pictures of cars that are breaking these rules and they will be dealth with accordingly.
