TOWN CENTRE UPDATE

A variety of jobs this week, bit like pick an mix but we don’t get to pick. 

Duties included covering the front desk dealing with enquires from members of the public and amongst reporting of crimes we have reunited a couple of  lost and found phones with their owners – big smiles getting lots of sentimental photos of babies on the phones that were thought lost forever.

CCTV and statements taken regarding youth related matters with investigations progressing nicely.

We also came across a couple of scam victims who had been telephoned and told more porkies than a Melton Pork Pie festival and led to believe they had to send money via gift cards!  One victim has been found and Action Fraud are both investigating and providing support however….

We believe there may be other victims in the Melton Area recently so if you do have elderly relatives in the family or perhaps someone you know or a neighbour perhaps you can help them. The MO seems to be that victims instructed to go off and buy gift cards that you can top up with large amounts of money and then give these details to the scam caller to pay some imaginary bill. Might be an idea to just run it past them in case they have been caught out or if you’re reading this and are realising you may have been stung then….   The link below will take you to the action fraud website and it’s all straightforward from there.
