BIRSTALL & WANLIP ROUND-UP |
||
Hello everybody,
It has been a fair old while since last I sent out a Round-Up, this year particularly my return from Annual Leave has engendered a higher than usual degree of chaos in my working life but I am just about on top of things now (though still comfortably mildly distressed!).
In recent weeks we have seen the departure from the NL60 - Birstall & Wanlip Local Policing Team of PC 1365 Stu VENABLES who has moved onto a fresh challenge with the Leicestershire Police Rural Crime Team. Personally, I have felt at times that I have been spoilt having a Police Constable of PC Stu's calibre and wish him all the success in the world in his new pursuit. Nonetheless, PC Stu will still be based at Loughborough and there is every chance folk will still see him knocking about Charnwood and Loughborough from time to time.
In his place, this Round-Up marks the arrival of PC 1947 Dave BENNETT, a highly experienced and knowledgeable Police Constable with over 20 years service with Leicestershire Police, who has been privy in his career to several different departments and is looking forward to working Birstall and Wanlip. In coming weeks, PCSO Jon will look forward to introducing Dave to local residents as the Local Policing Team continue to maintain its presence in the community.
Moving onto more serious concerns, in the changeover of Beat PC's over the last 2-3 weeks, the Team have been continuing with their ASB Patrols whilst also working to rectify situations reflecting residents concerns on Birstall Meadow Road and Firfield Avenue. These respective situations are markedly different to each other and require different levels of sensitive handling in their respective matters; the Police will continue to develop these respective situations towards a restorative goal.
The kids remain on break during the summer months, and though a more robust approach concerning ASB occurring at Birstall North Services has been stepped up, not much else has been reported elsewhere in the village beyond the odd aberration involving very specific youths on our patch.
At time of typing, this Newsletter might exclude certain subjects or incidents, but as PCSO Jon has no immediate plans to leave the Beat, these subjects will be covered in future Round-Up's.
Until then, stay safe & stay vigilant.
